Many of my paintings provide a message embedded within the painting, Miraculous Night is an example of this. Painted as a Christmas card, this painting sends anyone with children a message. That message is described below.
Watercolor “Miraculous Night” ©2005
Wondrous, triumphant, miraculous, and joyful. These words represent Christmas for me, and provide the message underlying this painting. The sparkling reflections of the night sky on the ocean signify the “wondrous” night of Jesus’ birth. The clouds in the distance are from a winter storm that left a blanket of fresh snow over the beach. The struggles of life we all face are revealed by the snow fence, exposed and worn from many passing storms. The light from the night sky is shining through the life ring on the fence, symbolizing the “triumph” that the Savior’s birth brings to our lives. “Miraculous” is the halo formed above the snow angel, created by the light shining through the life ring, a symbol of Christ’s gift of life to each of us. “Joyful” is the expression of the child riding piggyback, with arms in the air, on his or her parent’s back. Having fun, and in awe of this Miraculous Night.
